Children of the Holy House
Our curriculum is unique. We meet one full day once-a-week from September through May. Parental involvement is strongly encouraged. In fact, their participation is vital. The parents help their children complete whatever they need to do to finish their lessons or assignments during the rest of the week. All courses are taught to help the children discover the influence of Catholicism and Catholics in every aspect of culture: in art, in science, in math, in music, in literature, in nature, and in the understanding of mankind as children of God. We especially guide the children to develop an awe and wonder of God and all that He is and has done; therefore, the Eucharist is very much at the center of what we do. An unexpected fruit has been the development of a support network among the moms and an obvious display of virtues among the children. Children registered with this program come from different parts of the city. Some travel as much as 60 miles one way. Many travel an hour or more each way. Since 1999, through the generosity and support of Fr. James T. Moore and, now, Fr. Bruce Noble, “Children of the Holy House” has used the parish facilities of Our Lady of Walsingham Catholic Church. Our Lord has blessed us with many outstanding volunteer teachers. Many of them are parishioners. Our non-parishioner teachers have been inspired to join our program after having heard about it or experienced it through the enrollment of their own children. The teachers are devoted to the Faith and fully committed to the task of developing and teaching courses that advance the study of Catholic culture at an early age. The results they have seen through this program makes all the hard work worthwhile. There is no better testimony to the wonderful things Our Lord is doing through the “Children of the Holy House” program than the comment one mom made at the end of one year. She said, “This program has changed our family life!” Deo gratias! If you would like more details, please email Irma Moré, Director of “Children of the Holy House” at OLWHolyHouse@aol.com.
